Across these cities the yearly average high ranges from 23.9°C in Lichinga to 31.7°C in Tete, and yearly rainfall from 537 mm in Chibuto to 1,470 mm in Gurúè. The hottest city-month is November in Tete, with an average high of 36.4°C, and the coolest is July in Lichinga, at 20.7°C. By single month, the most rain falls in January in Gurúè, with 372 mm, and the least in July in Cuamba, with 1.2 mm.

November is the warmest month in 14 cities, February in 5 and December in 2 (in 1 other city two or more months tie); July is the coolest in every city. January is the wettest month in 21 cities and December in 1; August is the driest in 9 cities, July in 7 and September in 6. Of these cities, 3 have a month with more than 300 mm of rain; none has a month with an average high below 2.0°C or a month with under 1 mm of rain.
