Across these cities the yearly average high ranges from 28.2°C in Kuala Nerus to 30.6°C in Marudi, and yearly rainfall from 1,564 mm in Kampung Sungai Kajang to 3,474 mm in Kuching. The hottest city-month is February in Alor Setar, with an average high of 33.1°C, and the coolest is January in Kuala Nerus, at 26.2°C (tied with December in Kuala Nerus). By single month, the most rain falls in December in Cukai, with 585 mm, and the least in January in Alor Setar, with 53 mm.

March is the warmest month in 32 cities, May in 9, April in 6, June in 4, August in 4 and February in 3 (in 14 other cities two or more months tie); December is the coolest in 42 cities, January in 10, October in 3, November in 2 and July in 1 (in 14 other cities two or more months tie). November is the wettest month in 47 cities, October in 12, December in 12 and May in 1; February is the driest in 35 cities, June in 11, July in 10, March in 5, January in 3 and April in 1 (in 7 other cities two or more months tie). Of these cities, 55 have a month with more than 300 mm of rain; none has a month with an average high below 2.0°C or a month with under 1 mm of rain.
